Wednesday, November 29th, 2006 Posted in Anti-Nationalism, British Politics | 2 Comments »一提起英國,即時聯想到的大概都是米字旗、黑帽紅衣衛隊、倫敦大橋、劍橋牛津、甚至,曼聯與碧咸。這些東西,無錯是英國本土的產物;但是,他們還有一項共通點:除了米字旗之外,全部也是英格蘭出產。
月初英國 ICM 一項調查顯示,剛好百份之五十一的蘇格蘭人認為蘇格蘭應該從大不列顛中獨立出來 [1] 。民調結果,引來不少人「嘩然」。倫敦的政客,當然不希望聯合王國再縮水為英格蘭王國。而英國以外的人,卻似乎對此大惑不解。
別拿安全選區來玩

正當英國工黨權鬥沒有新進展之時,保守黨黨魁金馬倫正面對上台以來首次大型黨內衝突,指他取「花花倫敦 [1] 」而棄英格蘭中部。

話雖如此,但貝理雅卻承受了連月來最大的一次後座議員「作反」。六十九名工黨後座議員不認同政府的議案,改投了修正案一票。如果讀者記憶猶在的話,英國工黨於去年大選時贏了六百四十六個議席中的三百五十三個,扣除六十九名工黨議員,即只有二百八十四名議員支持政府。那麼,為甚麼議案又會三讀通過呢?

A day is too long for Politics, no to mention a year. The departure time is too late for Gordon Brown. First, before Blair’s resignation he can not have much saying in policies, he still is Chancellor but not Prime Minister. Second, the later he leaves, the less chance Gordon has. John Reid, the new home Secretary, has some planning to boost his support to replace Blair.

工黨權鬥如火如荼,但英國工黨政府並沒因此而罷工。昨日貝理雅與白高敦達成了協議,讓收入與退休金自一九八一年以來重新掛鈎。這一行動,表現出英國政治的成熟。

Only last year, Tony Blair won the election. But just a year, British people are getting bored by him. Blair cabinet make errors again and again and hence, lost the local election. Blair suddenly discovered the scenario and replaced some members of his cabinet.
