The Writting of TC Reports

Report Region

Reports would be issued when one or more named tropical cyclones appear in the region bounded by 105E to 135E, 5N to 35N.

When the cyclone is centred with in 105E to 125E, 10N to 30N, a more detail report and analysis-in-between and would be issued.

Report schedule

Reports generally would be issued at UTC 15:00 (HKT 23:00) and base on the data taken at UTC1200 (HKT 20:00). If there were more than one tropical cyclone at the same time, the one with stronger influence on South China Coast in next 72-hour would be issued first.

If the tropical cyclone is expect to be dissipated or extratropical within 12 hours or moved out the reporting region, the final report would be issued at any time.

Analysising

The position of the strom is base on satellite images and radar images (if available). The strength is estimated by Dvorak Analysis with a fews weather stations’ reading. Numerial models ECWMF, NGP & GFS will be used in forecast.
